I was a sophomore on the Liberty Women’s basketball team when a dapper boy with bright red shoes walked into our practice facility. He was one of the new practice players. And well, love and basketball, as they say.. We exchanged smitten and shy interactions until he asked me to his intramural basketball game. A couple of my girlfriends and I went to cheer him on. He wore my jersey number and stole my heart. After the game, he asked me on our very first date. We went to Benny’s Pizzeria on Valentine’s Day. He brought flowers and chocolates and opened the car door. We sat in a tiny red booth until closing that night and went on a date everyday after that until we started dating. It took no time at all to fall for those dreamy blue eyes and gentle heart. And it took even less time for the Holy Spirit to confirm our admiration. He had been preparing my heart for Jake for quite some time. He would often place Ephesians 3:20 in my mind, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” But it wasn’t until falling in love with the dapper boy with the bright red shoes that Jesus showed me he had gifted me with exceeding abundantly more than all I had asked or prayed for. But in his kindness, Jesus also taught us that He is truly more abundant than any desire or prayer and that he would honor us daily with the opportunity to use our marriage for His glory and goodness. This good news is what we wish to celebrate with you, our closest friends and family.
